ATA Carnets to Brazil Reinstated
We have great news for the trade community! USCIB has informed Roanoke that the suspension of ATA Carnets to Brazil has been lifted. Effective immediately, new and replacement carnets can be issued for temporary imports to Brazil.
Per an email from the International Chamber of Commerce to USCIB:
“Based on a written confirmation received today, CNI’s mandate as the ATA Carnet National Guaranteeing Association in Brazil has been renewed for another six months until the end of 2021. Within the next 6-month period, a bidding process will be launched by the Brazilian Customs Administration to either confirm CNI’s next five-year mandate or to smoothly transfer CNI’s responsibility to a new guaranteeing association.
With the agreement reached today between CNI and the Brazilian Customs Administration, potential risks on the ATA Carnet operation are eliminated. The ATA Carnet procedure will continue operating in Brazil, therefore your ATA Carnet issuing services and the use of the ATA Carnet in Brazil can go back to normal. Members are invited to pay attention to this notification and instruct their issuing networks accordingly.”
