Brazil Welcomes ATA Carnets!

Share This:

After much anticipation USCIB announced that Brazil has started accepting ATA Carnets for professional equipment and exhibitions and fairs! This could not come at a better time with the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games being held this year in Rio.

ATA Carnets are, simply put, passports for goods as they facilitate temporary entry into over 100 countries. Brazil has adopted and now is implementing the ATA Carnet system which will ease the requirements for companies and athletes involved in Rio 2016.

Brazil hosts hundreds of international cultural, political, sporting events, conferences, and trade shows every year. By adopting the ATA Carnet system, Brazil is making it much easier for U.S. exporters to participate and exhibit at these events. Brazil is the largest economy in South America, the 8th largest in the word and the United States’ 11th largest goods export market. With modern infrastructure and facilities and a population of 193 million makes this market very attractive to U.S. exporters and investors.

Brazil and United States engage on a number of trade and investment initiatives. In 2011 President Obama and President Rousseff signed the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation to trade and investment between the Western Hemisphere’s two largest economies. Brazil’s acceptance of the ATA Carnet system only furthers this trade relationship and facilitates growth through easing temporary entries.
