No ATA Carnets to Brazil in the New Year
Beginning on January 1, 2022, Brazil will cease accepting ATA Carnets. There will no longer be a Brazilian national guaranteeing association responsible for the collection of amounts owed in the case of non-compliance with ATA Carnet conditions.
Valid ATA Carnets issued prior to the cessation order and currently in circulation may NOT be presented to Brazil after 12/31/2021 as BR customs will reject entry even if the green carnet cover has BR listed among the countries.
Goods admitted into Brazil prior to 12/31/2021 will remain in temporary admission status, and in case of the loss or destruction of an existing ATA Carnet in Brazil, a Duplicate ATA Carnet issued after 12/31/2021 is valid.
Any ATA Carnet extensions must be carried out before 12/31/2021 for goods that are currently in Brazil to avoid any issues with Brazilian customs at the time of re-exportation.
If you have questions or need a report listing your company’s ATA Carnets with Brazil as a selected country, please reach out to our ATA Carnet Service team, email us Carnets@RoanokeGroup.com or call 1-800-ROANOKE (762-6653).
