Roanoke is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Amanda Barlow, Vice President of ATA Carnet for Roanoke Insurance Group Inc., to the District Export Council of Southern California (DECSC), one of more than 60 DECs that exist throughout the country to support the U.S. Government’s export promotion efforts. Amanda joins fellow Roanoke colleague, Theresa Garcia, as a DEC member. Theresa, Roanoke Insurance Group’s Vice President, Marketing & Sales Support, is a member of the DEC in Houston, and serves as Education Committee Chair.

DECs are organizations of business leaders from local communities, appointed by various U.S. Secretaries of Commerce, whose knowledge of and expertise in international business provides a source of professional advice for their region’s local firms. Individuals are appointed to a DEC based upon energetic leadership, position in the local business community, knowledge of day-to-day international operations, interest in export developments, and willingness and ability to devote time to council activities. Amanda fits the bill perfectly.

Amanda is responsible for the management of Roanoke’s ATA Carnet customer service operations, which consists of six customer service representatives across the United States, and the ATA Carnet application and issuing software. In addition, Amanda is responsible for the growth, marketing, and sales of the ATA Carnet product and all its related services nationwide. She regularly presents on behalf of Roanoke for a wide variety of associations, the Department of Commerce, and trade groups’ educational events, seminars and webinars. Amanda is also a member of the National Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association of America’s Educational Institute (NCBFAA-EI) Marketing Subcommittee, along with representing Roanoke and our clients in the Trade Support Network (TSN) and USCIB’s Customs and Trade Facilitation Committee. She served as the Secretary and Marketing Chair on the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) New York chapter’s board of directors from 2009 until 2012, and is now an active member of the OWIT chapter in Orange County, CA.

Congressman Ed Royce (R-CA) attended Amanda’s DEC appointment ceremony where he stressed the importance of the organization and its collective effort to strengthen the United States’ competitiveness abroad. “Anything we can do to advance our exports we need to do.”

Currently there are approximately 1,600 DEC members who volunteer their time and specialized expertise to assist small and medium-sized businesses in their local communities establish or increase export sales, thus promoting our country’s economic growth and creating new and higher-paying jobs for their communities. DEC members also sponsor and participate in numerous trade promotion activities, as well as advocate for effective trade policy positions. In fact, more U.S. companies are exporting today than ever before, many of which succeed due to the assistance they receive from DEC members.

Roanoke is proud of our professionals who are committed to the success of our country’s export efforts. We specialize in insuring transportation and logistics providers.
